Breeders' Cup Sprint

 

Most figured that the speedy Caller One would be the pace setter in the Breeders' Cup Sprint but when the three-year-old colt reeled off the first quarter in 20.4 even race caller Tom Durkin sounded alarmed.

Caller One set a blistering first quarter

After three years of close finishes  in the BC Sprint Kona Gold found the winner's circle this year. Kona Gold not only won this one but also broke the 14-year-old track record by over a second. The 1:07.77 also set a Breeders' Cup  record for the sprint.

Kona Gold's victory was the First win for jockey Alex  Solis in 31 tries. "The monkey is off my back." said Solis who has had six second place finishes and a pair of thirds in previous attempts.
