Several Cigar Mile runners were making their final appearances in the race. Winner Purge was one this group. Purge's last victory in a stakes race came last year in The Jim Dandy at Saratoga  where he defeated The Cliff's Edge and Eddington. Now jockey Garrett Gomez was in the irons for the victory. Purge will head to The Vinery for stud duty. Second place finisher Mass Media is headed to Hill 'n' Dale Farm, sponsors of this year's race.
