New York Turf Writers Cup

Trainer Sanna Nelson tried to make it a sweep of Saratoga's two most prominent Steeplechase races when she sent out Augustin Stable's Praise the Prince as the overwhelming favorite in the New York Turf Writers Cup. Going for his third straight victory Praise the Prince was assigned a staggering 160 pounds conceding 8 to 18 pounds to his rivals.

Always to be feared in any steeplechase race is trainer Jonathan Sheppard. Ditto for top jump jockey Blythe Miller. Blythe took the seven-year-old gelding It's a Giggle to the lead early and hoped for the best. Coming over the last fence It's a Giggle held a slim lead over Canta Ke Brave. In a foot race to the finish line It's a Giggle held on for a neck win over Canta Ke Brave. 

It's a Giggle clears the last hurdle

It's a Giggle's victory in the race was his third win at Saratoga, putting him at the top of the standings for equine victories. Jockey Blythe Miller had a very successful meet winning three of her six starts and trainer Jonathan Sheppard was 5-2-3 in 16 starts. It's a Giggle is owned by William Page.
