The Whitney Handicap

Saratoga's  premiere handicap race has produced many exciting finishes and this year’s edition was no exception. Front running Commentator (right) held on to hold off the fast closing favorite Saint Liam and gain a quarter length victory. Commentator, a four-year-old gelded son of Distorted Humor, gained his first stakes victory in The Whitney and should do well in the fall races at Belmont. Commentator was ridden by Gary Stevens, trained by Nick Zito, and is owned by Tracy Farmer

The Test Stakes

California based Leave Me Alone gave trainer Eric Kruljac his first Grade 1 and Saratoga victory as she carried the Mitchell Ranch colors to a easy seven length win in the seven furlong race for three-year-old fillies. Ridden by Kent Desormeaux the speedy filly made every pole a winning one and crossed the finish line in 1:22.76

The Honorable Miss Stakes

Forest Music's front running victory in The Grade 2 Honorable Miss gave her trainer Steve Asmussen his 3000th career win. The speedy filly took the early lead and never looked back, clocking 1:10.06 in the six furlong affair. John Velasquez rode the Stonestreet Stable filly, finishing two lengths in front of Ebony Breeze and Jerry Bailey.
